The RAPID Facilitys mission is to enable transformative research by providing natural hazard and disaster researchers with the resources and support needed to collect, process, and analyze perishable data from extreme events. These unique open datasets serve various purposes, including developing and calibrating scientific natural hazard simulation models.

RApp is a mobile app developed by the Natural Hazards and Disaster Reconnaissance (RAPID) Facility that provides tools for coordinating and conducting natural hazard and disaster field reconnaissance. Data and metadata collected with RApp are automatically synchronized with DesignSafe, a cloud-based infrastructure, and securely encrypts data on your device and in transit. Rapp supports the collection of photos, video, audio, notes, markers, and questionnaires — even without network connectivity. A DesignSafe account is required to use RApp.

DesignSafe is the cloud-based data archive for RApp data. Data is automatically synced from RApp to DesignSafe, so you must have a DesignSafe account for syncing to work.

1) Visit the DesignSafe site: https://www.designsafe-ci.org
2) Sign in, or create a free account if you do not have one
3) Create a project in the Projects section (Workspace > Data Depot > My Projects)

Mission Control is used to set up options and templates for use in RApp. Anything you create or change in Mission Control will be automatically synced to RApp on your device.

1) Visit the RApp Mission Control site: https://rapid.apl.uw.edu/rapp
2) Sign in with your DesignSafe account
3) You can create Checklists and Questionnaire Templates
